Watch Casey Herd teach a ballet lesson for a professional dancer. Be a fly on the wall for a lesson in which, Mr. Herd will be teaching a private one-on-one ballet class with a professional dancer from the world-renowned Dutch National Ballet. He will start at the barre with the basic positions and movements as the dancer slowly warms up, working on good placement and line.
As the class progresses the dancer will move into the center beyond the foundational positions and movements and will begin working on more advanced steps as they slowly develop balance, musicality, line, placement, flexibility, coordination, and strength. The whole process will be 1.5 hours and will conclude with the final combination called the grand allegro. This is where the dancer displays a short choreography that incorporates a number of the more difficult jumps and turns in the classical ballet repertoire.
